Linturetki I, 19.1. // Bird watching trip I, 19.1.

Vuoden ensimmäinen linturetki tehdään sunnuntaina 19.1. Helsingin
Vanhankaupunginlahdelle! Mutta eikös nyt ole vielä talvi? Kyllä, mutta
osa linnuistamme jää kuitenkin talvehtimaan tänne eteläiseen Suomeen.
Vanhankaupunginlahden alue on luontoarvoiltaan tärkeä alue ja sieltä
löytyy paljon sopivia elinympäristöjä ja ruokintoja talvehtiville
linnuille. Hyvällä onnella saatamme nähdä mm. koskikaran tai
valkoselkätikan. Lintulajeja on talvisin myös vähemmän kuin muina
vuodenaikoina, mikä helpottaa aloittelevan lintuharrastajan työtä.

Aloitamme varhain, tapaamme klo. 8.30 Tekniikan museon Viikintien
portilla (Vanhankaupunginkosken yli menevällä sillalla). HSL:n tiedot

Teemme ensin kierroksen koskella ja Pornaistenniemessä, sitten
suuntaamme arboretumiin ja päätämme retken Viikin Gardenian pihaan
(http://www.gardenia-helsinki.fi/). Ottakaa lämmintä vaatetta päälle,
lahdella ja pelloilla voi tuulla kylmästi. Myös omat eväät ja lämpimät
juomat voivat olla paikallaan. Mitään lopettamisajankohtaa ei ole,
mutta reitin kulkeminen kestänee ainakin pari tuntia. Voitte tietenkin
liittyä seuraan myöhemmin ja/tai lähteä aikaisemmin.

helsinki.fi tai puhelimella 050 331 9886. Voitte kysellä varusteita
lainaan, niin yritän järjestää. Lintukirjoja minulla on riittämiin,
mutta optiikkaa voi olla vaikea saada.

This year's first birdwatching trip is organized on Sunday 19.1. in
the area of Vanhankaupunginlahti in Helsinki! It's still winter, but
luckily many bird species stay over the winter here. There are not as
many species as there are in other seasons and that makes it also
easier to recognize the species! With a little bit of luck we might
see e.g. a white-throated dipper (Cinclus cinclus) or even a
white-backed woodpecker (Dendrocopos leucotos).

We start early at 8.30 a.m. The starting place is at the gates of the
Museum of Technology at Viikintie (there's a bridge for cars over the
river). Helsinki Region Transport has a bus stop there:

We'll first walk around Pornaistenniemi, then go to the arboretum and
end our trip at the Gardenia in Viikki
(http://www.gardenia-helsinki.fi/english.htm). Put on enough clothes,
because the winds can be really cold on the bay and the fields. Take
your own food and warm drinks with you, we will be out for at least a
few hours. It is of course possible to join later and/or leave
earlier, if you wish!
